Meet Our Team
Mariana Vazquez-Maloney (she/her/hers)
For as long as I can remember, I have been a deeply-feeling person who wants to make the world a better place. I spent several years exploring what that meant for me professionally, and when my winding career path led me to counseling, something inside me clicked. Helping others, connecting as one imperfect human to another, and exploring the complexities of life makes me light up.
As a therapist, I am driven by my passion for collaborative work with my clients. Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, depression, life transitions, or trauma, I see each individual as unique, and approach your experiences with empathy and respect. My belief is that most of us do not get through life unscathed, and we all benefit from having a dedicated, non-judgmental space to express emotions, build healthy coping skills, process trauma, and understand ourselves.
Across every client relationship, I am committed to understanding how your experiences —shaped by factors like gender identity, cultural background, and marginalization— impact your overall wellbeing. In addition to working with adults, I feel honored to be a safe space for pre-teens and adolescents to explore their developing identities and build vital life skills, while helping their families strengthen connections and promote resilience. In my own stage of life as a mom, I have also developed a strong passion for supporting parents as they navigate the complexities of parenthood and redefine their identities during this season of life.
My professional qualifications include a Master of Arts in Counseling and Mental Health from the University of Arizona, with a License in Professional Counseling and over 10 years of experience in the field. I have a Level 1 Certification in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, and extensive training and experience in Person-Centered Therapy, trauma-informed care, gender inclusivity, and mindfulness.
At my core, I’m just a human who loves her family and friends, enjoys hiking and reading, and can appreciate some terrible television at the end of a long day. I will strive to show up as my authentic self in our therapeutic relationship, and be warm and present. I will sit with you in your feelings, gently push you when needed, and bring a sense of humor to the process as well. Together, we will identify your strengths, build skills, discover answers, and heal. You have made the courageous choice to take this step toward growth, and I can’t wait to be a partner that empowers you during your journey.
